During the course EDLD 5364 Teaching with technology I was given the opportunity to experience many useful aspects of technology and group collaboration that otherwise I would have missed. I was given the opportunity to become part of a professional group that facilitated the success of each other though group collaboration and group problem solving. I was also exposed to many education resources that will help me to create better lessons for my students. These resources include an online book entitled, Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age: Universal Design for Learning. In reviewing this resource I learned about principles of teaching that I never heard of before. These principles were to support recognition of learning, to support strategic learning, and to support affective learning. All of these principles supported the idea that students all learn in different ways and use different methods to learn new material. This is a useful resource that all educators need to be using in order to understand how their students learn material they are presented in class. In working with a collaborative group of educators during this course I have gained a resourceful and helpful group to collaborate with during the remainder of my master’s degree. This group of hard working individuals may never meet face to face, but we have learned valuable lessons about how to take and give criticism, solve technical and teaching problems, and how to utilize a groups strengths so that all members have a contributing role in the development of a project. In conclusion I appreciate the opportunity to have had the chance to learn how I can better myself as an educator and now how I can better help others to do that same.
